Tools

-A useful method for learning and reviewing topics is through the use of simulations. The University of Colarado has a superb collection of these simulations or appletts. You can use or download the appletts from their website http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/category/physics .

This one covers most of the waves topic, and is pretty bone dry.

This helps with interferance

Here is an extra article written by Mr. Cooper will likely stretch your mind, but is a superb example of the application of waves...and words like
counterpropagating, birefringence, and ellipsometry.

Mechanics

This unit is in line with AS 90521 and will be approximately 10 weeks in length. The following files make up the homework book that you were given a copy of at the start of the unit.

Circular Motion

Orbital Motion

Rotational Motion

Simple Harmonic Motion

In this section we will be looking at the motion of objects around circular paths.
Moving on from circular motion we get into orbital motion. In orbital motion two forces ballance, the force from circular motion that effectively would push satellites away, and the force of gravity that effctively pulls satellites in. When these two orbits are ballanced there is a stable orbit.
Turning away from moving in circles, we now take a look at what happens when things start spinning. This is considered rotational motion and requires a new set of formulae to understand. Many of these formulae are familiar to the kinetic equations used in the past, but the symbols have been changed to represent angular motion.
Understanding SHM is key to doing well in Mechanics, Electricity, and lets face it, life in general.
